A house wash, also known as soft wash is a low pressure clean and rinse of the exterior of your home. This includes exterior walls, window frames, eaves, awnings and gutter casings.

Both soft washing and pressure washing are very effective ways to clean algae, dust, dirt, mould, and other living things. In both ways of cleaning, water is sprayed on a surface with the help of a pump and a hose. Soft washing uses low pressure and custom solutions to get rid of dirt and other debris. When soft washing, a biodegradable chemical is first used to loosen the dirt and grime and treat mould. Then, water is sprayed on the surface with low pressure to thoroughly rinse away the cob webs and dead mould.

Pressure washing, on the other hand, uses high water pressure to force away dirt and grime. If it's not done right, it can cause potential damage, especially if used to clean walls, eves and around windows. It can wear down paint, blow out window seals, and damage electrical outlets. Because of this pressure washing is never to be used on a house, it is an ideal way to clean concrete, tile and brick paths and driveways.

Choosing between soft washing and pressure washing depends on the surface that needs to be cleaned.

As we use low pressure and very low concentration of cleaning solutions, a house wash does not pose any significant risk to the house's exterior or paintwork.

We use a mild soap as a surfactant mixed with a sanitiser diluted to 0.8%. Both products are biodegradable, and used at the correct ratio cause no harm to plants pets or people. The mix we use has a long lasting fungicide effect so regrowth of mould will be slow, and it is also used as a mild pesticide.

A house wash will leave glass and windows free from spiderwebs and dirt, but we do not squeegee or polish the glass, so for older homes it would be recommended to book a window clean after a house wash to ensure spot free glass.
